Swimsuit fitting at practice on 5/6. Come a little early (must be dry to try on)!
Becoming a certified official is straightforward. It involves a review of the rulebook, attending a spring training session, and passing a test. If certification sounds daunting, consider starting as an "official trainee." It's a great way to dip your toes in without the full commitment, earning volunteer credits while learning the ropes.
Remember that becoming an official fulfills your family volunteer requirements for the season and if you complete 4 or more meets you receive a registration rebate!
All officials are required to attend training appropriate to the role they wish to certify in for the 2025 season.
Requirements for Stroke/Turn
Anyone is welcome to become a Stroke and Turn Official after reviewing the rulebook, attending a spring training clinic, and passing a test. If you have never officiated before, then you must attend the in-person new official clinic for stroke and turn judges.
Requirements for Starter/Referee
To become a Starter or Referee you must have been a CCSL official for 2 or more consecutive years and attend a spring training session. Returning officials will have the option to attend either in-person or web-based clinic. If you have never officiated as a starter or referee, then you must attend the in-person new official clinic for starters and deck referees.
Certifying as a starter and deck referee also certifies you to be a stroke and turn judge, there is no requirement to attend both clinics.
