Kristi swam at Brazoswood High School where she was a 3 time high
school All-American in the 100 butterfly, winning the 5A Texas High
School State Meet in that event her sophomore through senior years.
She
swam for the University of Texas Longhorns and was a member of two
National Championship Teams and a three-year college All-American.
She also competed in the 1988 Olympic Trials while in college.
Since
that time, she has coached at the summer league, high school, and year
round swimming levels, and is looking forward to her first season with
FAST. Kristi
is married and has three boys.
Born and raised in and around Houston, Katie started swimming on a
summer league team at age 6 and swam for La Porte in high school.
In college at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Katie ran cross-country
for a year. After college she started running marathons, which led to
competing in triathlons. With a background in swimming and running and
a new love of cycling, triathlons became her passion for 10 years. She
still enjoys swimming and the benefits it provides.
Katie served as the head coach for FAST for the 2003 and 2004 seasons
after serving as our assistant coach for one season. Katie decided to
coach for FAST because she truly believes swimming builds self-confidence,
develops strength and is overall great exercise that can be enjoyed
for many years.
Katie says " I love to see the joy in kids’
faces that being on the swim team brings."
